vinly siding

how much would i be looking at if i wanted to get my house done in vinyl siding, its a small house like only 800sqf.i would like it to go over the wood siding.

Siding wise 800sq ft has nothing to do with sq area of each wall. Recalculate and take to some local vinyl siders.

vinyl siding

Don't know your area, but here (ks) we would figure it at average of \$350 per sq. That would include the siding and trim accessories, vinyl soffit, wrap window/door trim and fascia with aluminum coil stock. Also would include 1/4" foam backer-board. This wouild be total job, labor and all.

Are you planning on doing it yourself or having a contractor do it and just wanting to know a fair price?

If you want to figure how many square you have, you have to measure each plane (wall) of the house and how high it is. 100 square feet is 1 square so, if your house was a cube, 20 feet wide and 20 feet long and had no gable at all (hip roof), and the exterior walls were 9 feet high (as far as where the siding would cover, you would get 20 * 9 = 180 and that would be one wall. Since our cube house has 4 walls, we would say 180 * 4 = 720 or 7.2 square, which we would round up and buy 8 square.

Don't worry about subtracting for doors and windows, it gets used elsewhere. You do need to figure up how much J you'd need to wrap the doors and windows and how much starter strip (basically measure the perimeter of the house). For our cube house you'd need 4 outside corners. Your house might require more and also inside corners.

There's lots that's involved. If you're wanting a contractor price, go with the \$350 per square and just figure how many square you have (\$2,800 for the fictitious cube house).
