Vapour Barrier Sealant question

I know to put sealant (acoustic seal) between wood studs and vapour barrier, however when there is a seam should there be a bead of sealant between the stud and plastic then again between the two overlapping sheets of plastic?
I should know but have heard different opinions. Thanks.

Vapour Barrier Sealant question

accoustical will give you a better seal where its a bitoumounous type sealant it will never truly dry. plus where your putting it on something that moves around a bit it will make it easier to use.

the problem with red tuck tape is that the glue on it dries out after 3 or 4 years. which is why its been banned for exterior use by the alberta siding association.. along with too many guys using it incorrectly.....

personally i like to use both to help keep the mess down.. use accoustical on the seam first then run a strip of tape down the edge just so it keeps the edge from flapping.. this way if you rub up against teh joint you doint get full of black death which wil never come out of your clothes
