vapour barrier in part of room?

We are redoing our baby's room and replacing some of the drywall in the closet (it had gotten some surface mildew from overuse of the humidifier, only on the exterior wall side). However, upon removing the drywall, we found that there was no vapour barrier (the house is approx. 55 years old).

We will replace the insulation, but the question is - do we put vapor barrier on the exterior wall side? In other words, will putting vapor barrier on only one small section of wall be helpful or will it lead to more problems? We certainly weren't planning on replacing all the drywall in the room.

Placing vapor retarder in part of a wall won't hurt. Keep the retarder towards the "warm in winter" side of the wall.
