Question

Vapor barrier in an old construction

I have an older home (probably 60+) that had no insulation in the walls when I moved in, since then I have blown in insulation in the bottom level. Currently I'm removing the lathe and plaster on the upper level (it was very cracked and repair would have been a nightmare) and will be replacing with drywall. I'm doing one room at a time and in the first room I have it stripped and ready to insulate but have heard conflicting information as to whether to put up a vapor barrier before drywalling. I have read numerous posts and links on this site which have not really cleared the haze on this topic and was wondering if anyone could shed some real life experience here? This is my first drywall project so that is why the one small room to start.
Thank you for any feedback you can supply.

Install your Vapor barrier on the warm side, prior to enclosing with Drywall. I do not know the codes in Canada...But it's required by building code in the Northeast. You can't pass an inspection without it.
