Tuckpointing....Quikpoint Mortar Gun?
HI, I'm a newB to tuckpointing and a die-hard DIY. I have some crumbling mortar on my chimney...not too much, but it needs to get repaired. I have very expensive estimates and figure I should be able to do it myself.

While looking online, I found the mortar gun. Has anyone used it, and do you recommend it? It looks like it should make the job go more quickly.

I also found a device that resembles a standard caulking gun, but I figure that would be great for building up my arm and wrist muscle. I'm not sure how well that would work either.

Then there's the bag.

Any advice on these products would be greatly appreciated.

Bag it.

OK. Do you think the bag works better than the old way of just using a trowel?

Also, where to buy grout. The obvious places are Home Depot and Lowes. Would they have the right type of grout on hand?

Thanks for your earlier reply.

Any good Type S premix should be fine. Just be sure to prep the joints to 1/2" depth and tool them afterwards.
