tub surround caulking

I installed the surround yesterday, and caulked the tub/surround joints with silicone. Is it okay to use latex around the outer perimeter where the surround meets the drywall? the area is not painted yet, and silicone is not paintable...

tub surround caulking

If that part is outside the shower door and won't get wet, it'll probably be fine to use latex. There are paintable silicones available that would probably be a better idea though.

Right now the peremiter of the surround is dwywall/joint compound. Should I prime/paint first then caulk or can i caulk first and prine/paint over it? the area wont get directly wet, but would still be subject to moisture.

another question, can we use the shower before the perimeter is caulked/finished?
