Trimmed a door

Trimmed down an interior hollow core door. Please see the pic. Should I do anything to reinforce the bottom or will it be ok? It's for a bathroom.

Thanks

Yep--you need to add a long block of wood and glue it in---

Some times you can reuse the bottom that you removed,by slicing off the skin with a table saw---

yep, you will have to fill in otherwise the bottom of that door will come apart.

Kinda what I figured. Thanks!

How much did you cut off? Is there a standard measurement of "solid wood" that is in each hollow door bottom and top? I have 2 "hollow" doors that I need to shorten, not sure how much I can cut off before reaching the hollowness.....

That spacer at the bottom is an odd ball size, so you have make one out of a 2 X or 2 X 4 on a table saw or often times if you use a sharp razer knife you can peel the skin off the old one and use that.

There is no standard width for that spacer, any more then 1/2 and your in trouble.

Cheaper doors have a one inch tall bottom piece----Better quality maybe 2 1/2 inches---
