trex decking installed over pressure treated wood

Can anyone tell me if it is ok to install trex decking over top of pressure treated decking material. I realize it will raise the deck higher by the door but will the wood beneath possibly rot?

Yes it will and I wouldn’t do it. You should remove the old decking deal with any frame issues (if any) and install the Trex.

Trex is spendy stuff and it’s not as easy as you would think to pull up later. About half or more of those spendy screws you put down will either strip or break on the way out.

The wood will rot & the trex will be more prone to fall apart
May also void the Trex installation instructions & thus the warranty
Do a search on this site for Trex & read

As said, bad idea..... The Trex NEEDS air circulation underneath to honor the warranty with mold likely growing a bumper crop.

Be safe, Gary
