Treat this??


Does this deck need to be weather-proofed or treated somehow? I mean, do the supports need to be treated? If so, what should be used to treat it?

It would be bad if the deck started rotted or something. House is in northeast.

Treat this??


The deck should be treated with a sealer or stained to prevent wood splitting and cracking and discoloration over its lifespan.

I' m partial to CWF (Clear Wood Finish) by Flood, Wolman's Clear Wood Finish, or semi-transparent exterior stains.

Do you mean the deck surface itself should be treated, or the supports underneath (shown in the photo), or both?

I treat every bit of exposed deck lumber, but the most critical is the deck surfaces directly exposed to UV light, snow and rain...
