topsoil depth for soil movement

I'm filing an application for a soil movement permit as part of an addition I'm planning and need to calculate both top and subsoil -- is there a standard depth used for topsoil? i live in bergen county nj. thanks!

no, there is not standard depth. each site varies. you can see if the USDA Soil Data site may contain data for your area.
