Tips for building 20x20 carport

Hello all, new to the site!

im tired of my tree in my yard sapping up all my trucks, so i think i will try to build myself a 2 car carport..

i want it to be 21ft wide, 20ft long, 7ft high. ive never built one before, but heres my plan.

drop (6) 4x4x10ft poles 2 feet in the ground. one on each corner, then one on each side in the middle. im thinking 2x8x24ft beams all around on the top, and one in the middle going from front to back. then 2x4 rafters spaced about 12-18 inches apart, going from the side beams to the middle beam...the same on both sides. then plywood and shingles for the roof.

does this sound stable enough? i dont want this thing falling on my truck!

any help or tips is great, any criticism as well, doesnt bother me...im new to all this!

Do you need a permit?
That will tell you lots of what you need to do right there.

Everything seems under sized to me. 6x6 posts 4' in ground, biger beam, truss rafters, would be the norm here.

wow, seemed like i underestimated everything!

i havent checked out the permit just yet, i was just thinking off the top of my head so far. ill look into that this week...thanks
