Timbertech XLM versus Earthwood Evolutions - Eastern PA
We are looking to redeck a 15 year old cedar deck. We have narrowed our choice to Timbertech. However, we have gotten much conflicting information regarding durability of XLM vs. Earthwood Evolutions. We have a Southern exposure so the deck will get loads of sun. Our contractor of choice has expressed concern that Evolutions will scratch easily. He prefers XLM. We prefer the stiffness of the Evolutions board and color selection.
And, I have read that the capstock composite decking has swelling and water retention issues. Do we truly need to seal the ends and how would we do so? Is there a special product we should purchase.
:icon_confused: Maybe we will just stick with cedar wood as the industry seems split of what is the most durable and least problematic. Thank you for any advice you can lend.
