How far can you span a 8x8 10x10 and 12x12?

You can span them in any length you can get them.

That said it doesn't mean you can put anything on top of or hang anything from them.

Is there more to your question?

Andy.

Depends on their load. The heavier the load, the shorter the distance they can span. (You didn't ask the right question.)

Right questions:
How much load can an 8x8 hold over a span of 20 feet?
How much can I span an 8x8 supporting a uniform load of 50 psf?

There is a formula to answer those questions. I can look it up if you want.

I tend to think such lumber is for verticle applications. Heavy beams are more the laminants, Micro and Glu Lams.
