tile decks?

Looks like we'll be building, or possibly having built a deck this spring/summer. My wife has an interest in an alterative floor material such as tile or slate.

I wondered if anyone had a few words of wisdom regarding this plan. This will most likley be built on top of a concrete patio and be apox 3 feet high and not too big, I'm thinking something like 15 X 20 or so.

As we live in the Pacific Northwest I am paticularly concerned about water and moss/alge.

tile decks?

The things they can do with concrete these days is amazing. You might look into stampcrete, which when stained, looks like stone straight from the quarry. I've seen it done to where it looked just like it was slate.

Might be a very cost-effective and stable product for a project like this.

tile decks?

My friend in PDX had a beautiful spanish-style tiled patio. From October to June it was too slick to walk on safely. For safety's sake, pick a surface with at least a little bit of grip.
