Is there any hope for this house?

My husband and I are thinking of buying this home because it is a steal but I can't get over the exterior, it is drab to me and I can't figure out how to fix that. It is all brick and is over 5,000sq ft.

That is an odd looking house. And a very narrow looking driveway. I'm guessing there is a larger garage on the other side of the house. Painting the house a different color and adding some exterior window trim would change the appearance quite a bit. But most of all, I think it needs some landscaping. Plant bushes along the front of the house. Also consider ripping out the concrete driveway in the front and replacing it with a brick driveway (or a stamped and dyed concrete driveway that looks like brick). Then paint the front door a different color and pick up the basketball hoop that fell over.

That would be easy to spruce up....bhry touched on all the main things to do....paint will go a long way to changing the look.

Landscaping will also do wonders....maybe some features in the front yard along with a couple of large trees....

I would hang a big tractor tire swing from the soffit near the front door.

is/was that a shriner's house?

I probably would not paint the house, but landscape and window accents( shutters?) first.

Thank you everyone for your quick responses- however, the house now has two offers on it and we are the third. I do not foresee us winning the bidding war. The house was selling for 300K but the bidding has it well over 400 now and we aren't willing to pay that much for it.

Thank you for you help though. We have a few more homes we are looking at so more questions may arise in the future and am glad I found this site to help answer those questions.

 That's incredible! A house that size in the UK would cost 1m or more, depending on area. (approx. $1.6m!).

There is a lot of detail there. you need to get creative with paint colors.

I'm seeing 3-4 colors.

EDIT: Never mind since I see this won't be your house, regardless I'm still seeing 3-4 colors though.
