termite damage

Hello,

Pardon the newbie question, but I am new to this forum and not very familiar with termite damage.

We have what appears to be some holes made by termites near our front door.

The house is brick on the front and hardiplank on the sides. Does this type of construction cause termite damage?

Any recommendations or suggestions on how to proceed?

We are actually not very handy. Thanks.

First thing to do would be to post some pictures of the damage. Termites enter the house from behind porches and steps into the house all the time.
Does the house have a basement?
Is the area under the front door open so you can see the joist structure standing in the basement?

You should first call a termite exterminator. Then if there are termites a determination of how much damage and how to repair will need to be made.
