Temperature of an exterior wall

Need to determine the hottest time of day temperature of our west facing wood siding rear exterior wall. Will a regular outdoor thermometer do the job?

thermostat ? Maybe you mean thermometer. Not sure how accurate you want to be. An outdoor thermometer is going to be measuring air temperature. If there is minimal wind, the time of day that the air close to the siding is maximum, should be pretty close to the time of day the siding is maximum. For most accurate readings, find an infrared (non-contact) thermometer, or even one with a probe that can measure the surface temp of the wood.

I'd say a surface thermometer would be your best way of determining the actual temperature of the walls surface. something on this line. works on your grill as well .... gotta be able to justify those new tools ya know
