Surface repair spalling chimney bricks.
We have some chimney bricks that are spalling. Cant afford mason repairs right now. Previous owner had covered some of the spalling brick faces with a gray cement/mortar and it has lasted very very well. Trying to figure out what he used. Looks light gray in color, very hard and seemingly able to be put on thin. I believe he ground out the loose brick surface first then applied. It might even just be cement as it doesnt appear sandy like mortar. Presuming its a cement, any thoughts on best type of cement for brick surface rapir.
I know its not the nest choice but no way can I afford professional repairs right now, and whatever he did on those few bricks has held beuatifully for 10 years. Thanks |
