Support for garage roof sheathing.

Hi, I believe the roofers used 5/8" CDX sheathing when they replaced my garage roof, then EPDM rubber roofing over the new sheathing. The joists are 2X8 spaced about 24" apart. The also used metal clips at the sheathing joints but they don't seem to do much. The problem I noticed after the first winter is minor bowing at some of these joints in between the joists. I'm thinking the solution is a 2x4 ro 2x6 board across these joints either toe nails in or mounted with joist hangers.

Any suggestions? Will post pics if that helps.

5/8 CDX, 24" OC ought to be good. If not, your idea sounds good. If there is any concern about the sheathing warping/bowing up, epoxy your 2x4s to the CDX, then nail them. I had this same concern when I built 35 yrs ago, and did what you are thinking of, but I think I laid 2x4s on their side to be easier to nail to through the CDX. I don't recall, but either way I think (THINK) is solid enough, because I bet most houses don't have anything there, and they seem to be OK. j
