Joe, I was wondering what you recommended for attaching that ledger. I'm figuring the blocks are hollow and I've seen a ton of different concrete anchors. I've heard of expansion anchors with adhesive and all kinds, so just curious.

I'd use these.

One last question gentlemen; with an only 1 1/2" wide ledger, what would I use to attach the joist hanger to the ledger given there is concrete behind it?

Thanks!

1-1/2" common nails. Box stores here usually place HDG Simpson nails right next to the hangers. Keep in mind you need to either use PT lumber or put a vapor retarder between the concrete and lumber.

Hey guys , back after a long absence after some personal tragedy so thought I'd set the record for longest running thread . If any of you are still around , wondering if adding a vapor barrier behind even PT lumber for my ledger would be a good idea , and what to use and how . Should it be just the size of the ledger or have good overlap ?

Thanks everyone. Hoping to get diy going again in my life as a form of therapy...

If it was me..
I would just add bridging under the 2 by bottom plate for the wall and call it a day...

I hear ya, but I think I'm going with a ledger and was thinking about tar paper behind it. I don't know, I'm sure PT lumber against the CMU will be fine but just thought an extra waterproof layer couldn't hurt right behind the ledger. If it causes a water trap then thats what I'd want to avoid....I just want this to be one time deal so any suggestions are great.
