stupid masonry question
okay, since i've never really erected anything in masonry (only done pouring concrete slabs), i decided my backyard shed/storage (not quite a garage) will be 100% cinder bloc with poured concrete slab as a flat roof that will also be a terrace on top (will have poured concrete or metal stairs on the side).

question: once i have done laying walls in cinder blocks, how do i set a frame into which to pour the roof slab on top ? this is also more of a european construction style (as wood is more expensive there than concrete).

Wood would be cheaper.

So you want to build a frame to hold up a cement deck and people on top? For the cement to support it's own weight and the weight on top of it there is alot that needs to be done and will cost alot more than wood. You would need alot of support underneith of the concrete and kinda defeat the "shed" under the terrace.

A concrete deck or roof on a cinder block structure? Are you filling the blocks? Do you have any engineering information on spans of concrete, and the vertical load you can place on CMU blocks? Any building codes in your area?

I was thinking the same thing.
To design, fabricate, install, etc.... a structurally sound, and code approved concrete roof arrangement is not a DIY type project.

Re-consider a much simpler and cost effective design - with wood.

will consider wood
thanks !
