Can't really tell. Is it connected to the house roof at the corner?

No, the sides are just resting on the roof of the house. The only part that's actually fixed to the house is the far post on the main beam.

What is taking the outward thrust of the rafters ?????? There are no collar ties?

the only way to be sure is to do a structural analysis of that beam and connection check based on the worst possible forces where you'll connect your bag.

Thanks for the reply, any ideas on how I could do this? Think it was mikeGP that mentioned earlier on to tie a rope to the beam and swing around on it... Any thoughts on this? Figure that'd at least give us an idea of how solid the beam is.
