Storage extension on 1960's detached Garage

Hi all,
well, the motorcycle collection keeps on growing and Im running out of room, so Im thinking of building an extension to store the bikes in so I can free up the main area of the garage for the car and workshop in the winter.

The garage is 22 1/4 x 12 3/4 feet and Im thinking of making the extension about 10x10 running off the side making it an L shape in the end.

Im pretty sure that I'll be needing to pull some permits, but Im wondering where I should start. I live in Ottawa Ontario btw.

As for the work involved, Im ok doing most, if not all of the work myself as I've done most of whats involved before, just haven't been on the planning side, so I want to make sure I cross my T's and dot my I's

Regards,
John

Storage extension on 1960's detached Garage

Here are a couple of pics. One from this summer when I brought home my dads old BSA and a couple from out back this morning. Forgot to mention its cinder block construction and my plan is to knock through the wall just behind the window...well, that the idea anyway. Still looking at my options.
