Stanley Garage door opener problem

I'm having a problem with my automatic garage door opener. I have a Vemco by Stanley model TT200. The door will not go down unless the wall button is held down (does not work with the remote opener). It acts like something is on the way. It seems like I have to reset the system but I don't see any way of doing it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

Check that there isnt anything in the way obstructing it, that its not a windy day and its shifting the garage door, and also check to see if there is direct sunlight going into one of the optical sensors as that could affect the lasers. I had that happen one day, and would only happen during certain hours, times of the year when the sun hit it just right. You can also check the sensitivity levels for going up and down as they might be off. You could also disconnect the cord and freely roll it up and down by hand to see if its hanging up anywhere.

Stanley Garage door opener problem

Hey Jams,
Garage door openers are always tricky. Part of the problem is that every five years they make them a little different. I am from The Home Depot in Chicago and in my area it seems like everyone is upgrading their openers or trying to repair them. How old is your Stanley opener? Does it have the safety sensors at the bottom of the door? When it had a remote do you remember how it was programmed? I would check the wires running from the opener to the button on the wall. It could be as simple as replacing them. Or the mother board in the opener is messed up, in which case you will most likely need a new one. Garage door openers also come with pretty good warranties. If yours is less than ten years old I would check to see if itís covered. Let me know what you are going to do. -Gregg

It appears to be a board issue. I tried bypassing the sensors, but that didn't work either. This unit is about 14 yrs old. I called Stanley, they sold their garage door opener business to Home Innovations, who has been out of business for a few years now. Sounds like a new opener is in my future.

Thanks for the replies. I'm new on here, but this is definetly something I'll be looking at!
