standard patio door into 2x6 walls


can i purchase a stadard patio say from Home Depot and install it 2x6 walls. Can this be done or do need to order a door for 2x6 walls which is a special order.Also cost about $300 more and 3-6 week wait.

Yes you can, it has been done many times before. Be sure the filler or jamb extenders are on the inside of the door as it will cause water problems on the outside of the doors. When I installed the extra width to extend the jamb, I would let there be a 1/8-1/4 inch reveal to make it look as though it were planned that way. I always made an aluminum pan to go under the door's threshold to keep the water out.

standard patio door into 2x6 walls


My front door is a door for 2x4 wall in a 2x6 wall
Be aware that it will not swing totally open
IE 180 degrees back againt the inside wall
My door does open past 135 degrees
Since I have a bench on the 3 season porch it can't open any wider then that

standard patio door into 2x6 walls


Is this an entry swing door, a french double door, or a sliding glass patio door?
