stamped concrete

I was thinking of trying to build a small sidewalk in my back yard and wanted to stamp and stain the concrete. I have poured a fair amount of concrete but have never tried to stamp or stain it. I would appreciate any advice such as how do you know the best time to stamp the concrete? Also what are some of the better options for staining concrete? Thanks in advance!

You're at an advantage pouring a small sidewalk, in that you do not have to get on it. Normally, you have to wait til the pour can support your weight while walking on the mats or stamp forms. You won't have to wait quite that long.

The staining is probably not what you think. It is simply done by spreading powders over the surface, and bull-floating them in. Usually two or three different colored powders, in layers... with the last ones being release agents also.

Really not much to stamping concrete other than to pick that stamp straight up when removing it.
