stairs on a deck
Hi , i have a deck 8x16 10ft off the ground made out of 2x8 with 2- 2x10 beams under it with 3- 4x4 legs , 2x8s cantaliever over the beams 2ft i put stiars on it useing 4 -12 step stringers and its a little bouncey and i dont want to put legs on it . does anybody think i could run 2x6s on each stringer on the inside and bolt them together to make it stronger thank you Bob

Post a picture of what you have.
Something sounds very wrong with this plan.

For one thing a deck that high sound have had at least 6 X 6's.

Did you just make the stairs one long run, not with a turn and a platform 1/2 way up?

I would attach a 2x4 or 2x6 (pressured treated), which ever will fit along the bottom edge of each stringer, even on both sides if needed. Adding one member basically doubles the actual "meat" of the stringer. I use this even on interior stairs. this may or may not work in your case, but is worth a try.

Good luck!

If I tryed it that way I would install the one on the side on the back side of it and use ceramic coated 3" decking screws.
