Stair length calculation

Hey guys!

After moving my cottage onto a new foundation, my front door is now about 7 feet above grade, naturally I will need to build a deck/stairs to get to it. I would like to pour a small pad for the bottom of the stair risersto anchor to,my question is: Howdo I calculate how far the steps will end up being from the deck before I build them so I can pour the pad?

I assume there is a formula using rise and run? Since I have been out of school WAY too long to figure it out using trig! LOL

Any help is appreciated!

Michael

The calculator Joe found seems to work just fine. There are oodles on the internet and free/cheap smartphone applications too.

Do be aware your building department may have some ideas about what your stairs should be too!
