spf framing vs. engeneered framing

(building a 30 foot deep garage...)
Okay, attaching a spf roof joist and spf ceiling joist is pretty straight foward with birds mouth cuts and being nailed into the spf ceiling joist, but since I plan on spaning 30 feet, engeneered floor/ceiling joist seem to be a better plan, but how is the spf roof joist attahced to the engeneered ceiling joist?!

Metal pieces?
fill the center of the engeneered joist with ply for nailing?

Run it by your local B.D., ply may work; http://www.ilevel.com/literature/TJ-4000.pdf

Remember the nailing, last Table, bottom of page, don’t forget the pitch adjustment factor below that; http://publicecodes.citation.com/ico...002_par023.htm
