Question

Soundproofing

I live in an apartment complex and the window that I sleep next too dosent seem to block any outside noise.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at five in the morning the garbage man picks up the giant metal dumbster and slams it down a few times, its like a bomb going off. And the bank teller across the street starts yaking to all his customers at eight, not to mention there always cutting the grass or trimming the hedges.

I would like to know if there is a way to soundproof the window, its fine if the soundproofing it blocks out the light but its an apartment complex, so dont want anything that id have to pay to repair when i move out. Also dont want to spend a whole lot, prolly not more than 100 dollars

Any help would be much apreciated
Thanks,
Cody

The window is about 4 or 5 feet high and 6 feet wide.

Soundproofing

I would buy a sheet of 1 1/2 inch styrofoam insulation.
With a razor knife or handsaw cut it to fit inside the window
jamb snugly , and use double back
tape to stick some fabric to it so it has a good appearance.
I wouldn't use glue, as most will either damage the styrofoam
or soak through the fabric.

Will block alot of noise and won't damage the window at all.

Cost is about $25.00 plus fabric
