Sound Proofing? (Basement remodel)

I am working on finishing a basement room. Before I put up the drop ceiling, I was thinking about putting in something to dampen the sound between the basement and the rooms above. I was thinking about shoving fiberglass insulation in between the beams. Any other ideas?

Just putting insulation will deaden most sound. Not knowing your plans for the room that would suffice in most cases and can be a dramatic improvement over nothing at all. There are the cases such as building a recording/sound room or a Home Theater you most likely would want go much farther. Sound proofing theater or viewing room can provide a quite home for others even while a movie is being viewed at loud levels.

I have not yet tried these products
quite drywall (I have had literature on this company's products they also have flooring and more)

quite ceiling panels

Sound Proofing? (Basement remodel)

Well I have two bedrooms above the room and I was planning on a home theater type room. I will probably put thick insulation and also sound dampening ceiling tiles. Good idea.

The key to sound isolation is separation. There are plenty of pros out there giving away advice...

Good luck,
