Soffit question

I am installing new vinyl soffits. I started to remove the old aluminum soffits that were not ventilated and covered original unventilated plywood soffits.

Should I take down the plywood soffits before I install the new soffits. The plywood has peeling paint and it appears to have little mold stains in places? Is it better to leave it and not deal with the mess of the peeling paint and cover it up with a new soffit. There is about 120" linear of 24" soffit. Thank You

Soffit question

Yes, take down the plywood under the eves. You should have vented soffit at the eves.

Soffit question

Taking down the plywood is an option but requires a lot of work. You also can cut holes in the plywood for ventilation and then install you soffit over the pllywood.
