Question

Sliding Door Problem

Hi Guys!

Our sliding door seems to always come off it's roller (actually, I'm just assuming it uses some kind of roller mechanism?) We've taken the whole sliding door out to find the rollers but found nothing at the bottom or the top of the door. I reckon somethings missing from our door but MR "I know how to fix this" believes it doesn't need a roller or guide to function but has no idea how to fix it anyway.

I need your help to 1) settle this debate.
2) tell me how to fix it before someone in our house completely breaks it!

Thanks in advance

Sliding Door Problem

there should be 2 rollers on the underside of the door to allow the door to glide along the the groove in the metal track on the floor. there should be a round hole on the side of the door at each spot where the roller would go, this allows you to adjust the roller up or down with a screwdriver for adjustment.sometimes there is a small round vinyl cover plug covering the hole. maybe you just need to adjust the roller back down so it gets into the metal track

also, lowes and hd sell rollers and door hardware for sliding doors

Sliding Door Problem

glad to help! another bit of advice. when the door is working correctly with the right amount of pressure on the rollers to keep them locked into the metal track, the way to get the door into and out of the opening is to grab the door on its edges and raise it up vertically in the opening(this frees the pressure on the rollers) and then the door will come out. to put it back in, put the top into the opening and raise until the top hits and position the door bottom rollers over the metal track and set it down onto the track. I always look under the door at this stage to make sure the rollers are seated into the track and wa la, ready to use door.

sometimes you first have to adjust the rollers up into the door to put the door into the opening and then readjust the rollers after the door is in. Also, depending on how the door fits in the opening you can adjust the rollers to make the door fit in the opening better. when you find out about your roller situation I can explain how to fine tune your door adjustment if needed. Good luck
