Slate tile on concrete basement floor...

Just looking for all around pros and cons.

I dont mind the cold feel of the current concrete floor so thats not a concern. There will be a pool table down there but I guess I could get a rug if I start to break balls or crack tiles.

Slate tile on concrete basement floor...

I have dark slate on my basement floor. It's colder than an icebox in the winter but then again, so is concrete. I sealed it up pretty well and after a year, no cracks. It's stronger than it looks. I know a lot of people use it outside too so I wouldn't worry about it holding up.

i'd never use tile/flagstone outside where there's ANY chance of freeze/thaw,,, its only a matter of time til it delaminates,,, even here in marietta, ga,,, but it does look pretty,,, yours looks like indian slate - not a great mtl for strength but cheaper than u s slate from vt/va/pa & certainly striking in appearance.

If the slab in a basement freeze and thaws you must live in antartica.

Yeah, there's no way your basement slab is gonna get cold enough to screw up your slate.
