Size of dumpster?

I'm about to undertake a full-gut of a 40 sq. ft bathroom. The vanity, sink, and countertop are being kept, but removed and reinstalled. The commode, tub, and surround will all be removed. I only have tile in the tub surround (5' by 3'). The room has an 8' ceiling height. How big of a dumpster will I need to hold all the debris I will create? Thanks!!

A good estimating tool is to think in terms of a pick-up truck load, where each load = 3 yards.

For a bathroom, 10 yards is probably the right size. A 15 yard dumpster would be more than enough for the job you are describing, with room to clean out the basement as well

Just as a reference point - what kind of pickup? 1.5 ton short bed, long bed, regular duty, heavy duty? I mean, you can buy chevy's and ford's in a gazillion different combinations...

i do have one advantage - all my neighbors are old and retired. they won't fill it up before me!

Yeah I was going to say between 6-10 yards but if you needed more room then 15 yards would be more than adequate.

Hahaha good point but you can also get them with lids and a pad lock.

thats a full size truck with an 8 foot bed. about 2.5 yards level with the top.

also, check the price variation between the different size dumpsters, and ask for all the details about the rental contract.

Many companies have a restriction as to construction debris dumpsters. Ten yards would be that size around here. This is more then enough for the bath you describe.
