Sister studs allowed on load bearing walls?

Hello,
I am moving a washing machine from my second floor to my first floor (no basement). I need to install a wye on my soil stack for the washer, however; in order to get access to the stack I
need to remove part of a stud that is at the end of a load bearing header.
My question is: once I have installed the wye can i simply repair and sister the stud or does the whole stud need to be replaced?

Thanks

Is the new stud going to be under the header?

yes, it will be under the header

Try to figure out a different solution first - the stack was not there before the studs. Without a photo I can't be of much help, though.
