After the winter, I noticed that some of the corner pieces on my Aluminum siding needs repair. The piece on the top fell off and is missing and the piece on the bottom looks like it has moved a bit. what is the best way to repair this? I've never done any siding work? THANKS!!!!
My dad's house used to have those corners and it was pretty common for them to fall off. I always popped them back in from the bottom and then pop riveted them at the bottom. I don't know if you could begin to find a replacement for the missing piece. The stuff was made in the 50s-60s, probably by Reynolds Aluminum. It is possible to fabricate a corner from a piece of coil stock, if you have a way to bend it.
Pretty much what Maintenance just said; I've got similar siding and the corners are always coming loose or off. Unfortunately I can't find anybody who makes the same size these days so I've just fabricated them out of some aluminum pieces. Once they fit snug I'll drill a small hole on the bottom side and run a sheet-metal screw in to hold it.
