Siding question?

I have a newer home with vinyl siding. When ever it gets windy it seems to make a ton of noise. Its creaks and squeeks and all kinds of stuff. Its done it since the day I moved in. 1 1/2 years ago and I just never though to ask about it. I know they nail them in lose to they can expand and such, is this a normal attribute of vinyl siding?

Siding question?

They sell a siding removal tool for under $10. Lift up some sections and see if the nails are "too" loose.

Siding question?

Are you sure it's the siding that is making the noises? Maybe there is something else, loosely attached, that is contributing to the sounds...(?)

i.e.- Loose aluminum trim, Loose exhaust vent, Loose utility wiring or brackets, etc...

It crunches and scrunches over the entire house where siding is present. The front of the house is brick and I never hear anything from the front rooms. I figured it was fairly normal, it seems to be louder when its cold outside.

So its normal for the noise? Just an annoyance because the builder was a cheap ass?

Siding question?

ya, depending on the house, and location, vinyl can make noise. All the foam does is kinda act as a buffer. Usually there is no foam on new construction because the walls are pretty flat and insulated well. The builders we sometimes work for have us use foam because it does tend to cut down on drafts.

I would take a look to make sure nothing else is moving like a vent, or trim. Also take a look at the soffits, sometimes the wind can blow in there and rattle the panels.
