hello I'm new to diy ,been a carpenter for 25 years- framing ,trim, and some formwork, there is alot that I have done but i have never had to put siding over 1.5" of eps (polystyrene). , I'm in the planning stages of my own addition (doing my own plans and details )and plan to have 2x4 walls clad with eps taped at the seams covered by typar and strapping to create an air space, my concern is the weight of the strapping with lap siding , will 3/4" straps screwed the framing through the eps be strong enough? Will this type of wall construction create an- in the wall dew point? I've heard some say this type won't let your house breath but I say I live in a windy spot surrounded by open fields so i'm not to worried about that. Thanks for reading this, P.S just wait till i post my underpin Qs

WELCOME to the forums, if I forgot to say it!
typar is now basicly the same as tyvek besides its 20 a roll cheaper and with the silverboard-w/taped seams I don't really need anything else, just a backup , as far as bracing goes I plan on notching in a 1"x4" everywhere i can .I live just north of the border in ontario and my heating fuel bill was 1500 last year, this year probably more
