Siding options

Planning to build an outbuilding that will be storage initially and convert to a guest room/mother-in-law suite in the future.

I would appreciate comments/opinions on siding. The main house has brick and vinyl siding.

I could just match the vinyl but I want to consider other siding materials.

I see Smartside, Hardie panels, T-1-11, and others.

Climate is hot/humid. This will end up being insulated and I will probably have a mini-split for HVAC.

Siding options

Go with the vinyl.
Less maintaince, no painting, not going to rot, easy to cut with no toxic dust, not expencive, easy to make repairs to.
