Side-split bungalow - help with with front entrance stairs

Hi, I need some ideas with what to do with front entrance of house. We have a

side-split (split level bungalow). We're doing a renovation and relocating the

stairs to the basement, which are currently right in the front entrance to another

area of the house. As a result, we're planning on sealing up those stairs to the

basement, but I'm not sure what to do with the space. Two options on the table

are:

1) Just seal them up, put floor down and maybe have a hutch or shelving for keys,

etc.
2) maybe extend the front stairs across the entire width of the hall? But would

they be too wide? Also, would it be odd to have the stairs going up and then the

rail of the next set of stairs kinda of right in your way, on the left side?
3) DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE SOME SUGGESTION? THANKS in advance!
