Shower membrane

Can I use a 40 mil rubber membrane designed for a pond for my shower construction. I know that it is waterproof but am concerned if it may react with the "mud" (concrete). The stores here sell a pvc membrane and was wondering if anyone has had any problems using a rubber membrane.

I have enough left over from a pond project was wondering if I should use it.

Any info would be appreciated.

I don't know the technical properties of your pond liner, but I don't consider the few dollars a proper pvc liner costs now, weighed against the costs of a future shower tear out/rebuild, and possible structural rot, a viable option. Buy the pvc liner.
