Question

shed footing

while house footings need to go down below the frost lines, i was wondering if the same is true for a small cinder bloc shed, cca. 120 sq ft ?

thanks,

Yes. The point is frost heave....do it right, or get to do it over after a year or two.

Question

shed footing

bummer. the real pain will be digging trenches wide enough to set framing three ft deep.

considering that trenches are molds in and of themselves (though far from precise, is it okay to do away without framing ?

You can use the soil as a form for the footing as long as it is dimensionally consistent. Tench footings are very common!

You might be able to do a floating slab for a shed in your area. Check with a local inspector. But I don't know how well block walls work on a floating slab so if you do that you might need to go with frame walls. Maybe someone else on here knows.
