Shadow Box Fence

I am trying to get an idea if a quote I got on a fence is reasonable for what I am wanting done. I live in Mobile AL so I know costs will vary. My quote was for:

259 feet of 8' shadow box fence with cap facial. line posts 4X4, terminals 4X4, rail 2 X4 and boards 1 X 6 treated pine. This fence also includes 2 4X6 gates and the posts are spaced 8 feet a part. The total comes to $5799 which works out to 21/ft plus the two gates. Does this sound high? One thing I asked him to rework is the posts. Currently they have me quoted to 10 ft posts sunk 2 ft. I would like at least 3 feet sunk so he is looking at 12 foot posts that they will cut down. I would love to hear some thoughts on this. Thanks!

You would call at least two other contractors to get estimates. Internet input is of little or no use.

Shadow Box Fence

This is a DIY site, and therefore threads related to contractors' prices are strongly discouraged.

That price sounds about right for what I would charge in my area, depending on how you would like it capped the cost could be more. I will second the 3' or more post depth for an 8' tall fence.
