Seeking help from the sages of DIY constructers

Hi everyone I am new to the forum. Need some references on building a dog cage in my garage. I was thinking of using chain link fences at the dimensions of 10ft x 12ft. Is it cheaper if I pay $389 for it an internet website or would it be cheaper if I just buy the huge pieces from Home Depot or Lowes? I am extremely novice with DIY constructions and this may be my first project.

Big Thanks in advance and Happy New Years,
NoviceBuilder

Any prepackaged kit will cost more, since you are also paying someone to engineer everything. The individual components will be cheaper, but you have to make them fit together.

Look at the pre-assembled gate sections--that might be the fastest and cheapest---there are a lot of standard fasteners available in the fence section--That's worth investigating.

Just make a list of the materials you will need.
Go to the store and add up the price points.
It will be less at the store. The kits have the parts cut to size and no waste.
You just need to decide if it's worth the extra cost.

I will definitely check out the gates section this weekend Mike.
That sounds like my best bet on saving some money as others have also mentioned.

At the dimension of 10x12 ft of chain linked fence, do you think it would be cheaper by much with the proper misc. pieces for assembly and door piece than the 389 from the dog fence website?

Thanks for everybody that replied!

The only way to know is to price it out at the store.
