Security Window Film

Recently, we have been having some vandalism and thefts in our neighborhood. The thefts involve breaking into storage sheds and stealing tools for drug money. I want to install some window film on the windows of my storage shed and my entrance door to my garage. I am trying to identify the name and a site where I can purchase window film. The kind of window film I am looking for would allow me to see out of the shed when I am inside, but not allow people to see in. What is this type called and where would I be able to locate it?

First issue you have is there is no such film. You can get stuff that will make the window not shatter in but if they want in they will be able to push the broken glass in and get in. Also the film that will not allow people to look in but you can see out, requires the person to be looking from the dark side to the light side of the film. That means that at night people would be able to see in but you would not be able to see out. During the day it would work the way you want it but at night it would not.

I would suggest you use frost film. that will allow light only through. You will never be able to see in or out though. I would also suggest you place bars on the windows or plant thorny bushes under the window.

I promise not to turn this into a commercial or advertisement :) but at least I am honest about who I am.

As you are wanting this film for a shed, and there should not be any activity during the dark hours, your idea would work. However, all a "bad guy" has to to do is cup their hands around their eyes, and they will see in. .. not very well, but they will still see in.

I think that the frosted type film is the best solution for you and it is readily available in small 18" x 5 or 6 foot rolls at either Home Depot, or at Lowes. and look.. I even gave you the links :) This film that sells for about 15-20 dollars, will allow about 85% of the daylight in, and will make it impossible for someone to see inside. Simple application, cheap, and will accomplish your task.

Good luck!!
