Sealing seams on a vapor barrier

I'm trying to wrap up my insulation install so I can get it inspected but I've run into a bit of a problem. I have faced fiberglass insulation batts installed between the studs. The batts werenít long enough to fill the entire bay so I added an additional piece at the end, which Iíve been told is commonly done. I figured the seam between the two should be sealed but Iím having a hard time finding a VB tape. After searching online I see plenty of posts about sealing the seams on a vapor barrier but I canít find info on what product to use to seal it. Moisture barrier tape is available but thatís not the right stuff to use, as it lets vapor through.

Any suggestions?

Your are thinking way too hard about this. Just use Tyvek tape.

Yes tyvek will work, I would also consider packaging tape its a lot cheaper. BOB

True. It's not like faced insulation is a great vapor barrier anyway.

LOL, that wouldn't be the first time I've been accused of overthinking something. Alright, I'll go with either the Tyvek or packaging tape.

Thanks for the replies.
