I had a guy give me an estimate to epoxy a crack in my cement chimney cap, he wanted to seal it as well. The price of the crack repair was $95 but to seal cap it went to $350. I figured I went 20 years without it being sealed it this really nesessary? I was researching this a little, and it seems once you seal it it only lasts 2 years anyway? thoughts?
it helps to have it sealed. But the estimate is a bit high since all you are doing is painting it or skim coat of a sealing concrete like Thoroseal. If you have a ladder or can rent one this is a very easy DIY project.
hire a local handyman to do the job. It might cost $100 with materials
