Ryobi batteries 14 vs 18 volt

I have a 14vdc RYOBI drill and tool set, and the OEM batteries have died. Do the new 18vdc batteries fit AND work in the 14vdc drill and tools

Ryobi batteries 14 vs 18 volt

probably emailing Ryobi would clarify. The only thing I can offer fwiw is that I have so far returned 2 Ryobi L-Ion 18v batteries after a couple months light service - so far not impressed with the quality but guess I didn't expect much when I bought the tools.
