roofing

i have a three bedroom ranch, only half my house has an attic. there is a ridge vent in the roof. on the side of the house there was a vent, which i turned into a power vent. it has a thermostat for the summer and a timmer for the winter. there are no sofit vents on the attic side, the front has a false peak which i opened up to vent into the attic[possibly to help my problem] the back has a bedroom that extends the width of the sofit.I dont know if I should eliminate the ridge vent or how to get ventilation in the lower part of the attic. my attic gets damp in the winter time and I dont want mold to start growing

theres a product called shingle vent that might work its a vent that installs between 2 shingle courses or maybe a vented roof drip edge, you have to cut the sheathing back alittle
